About this crochet beach blanket pattern

Guys! I made the beach blanket of my dreams! I crocheted this beach blanket specifically for my trip home to spend my birthday with my family. Along with the Tara Tote (crocheted beach bag), this beach blanket made the perfect set up for all the beach days we spent soaking up the sun.

This crochet beach blanket pattern is suitable for any skill level. The blanket is a great project for beginners who want to try their hand at a larger project, and experienced crocheters who want to make the perfect blanket for their boho aesthetic beach days.

One thing I did note when making this beach towel was how long it took! It was a pretty large project because I wanted it to be big enough to really lounge on. Was it worth it? 10000%! Would I do it again? Meh, probably not.

I do not do much large projects like blankets, I like shaping and garments so I think this is why I thought it was such a long project! Nevertheless, watching it grow was so satisfying and it was really easy to make. This blanket is definitely a must have and great addition to add to your summer essentials

Construction of this crochet beach blanket pattern

This crochet beach blanket pattern was made in a circle shape. To avoid any edges and make a perfect circle, I made sure the increases did not line up.

The whole blanket is done in rounds and in triple crochet st (US Terms). Using Triple crochet stitches helped make the blanket faster and also contributed to its wonderful drape and airy stitches.

After making rounds and rounds, I was ready to finish up. Once the blanket reach the average diameter of circle blankets, I added beautiful lace border for a fun boho feel.

Yarn

The best yarn for summer crochet is generally cotton yarn. Cotton yarn has great durability and best for items that are used and washed often. Yes! This yarn is machine washable, a must if you are using it as a beach blanket. This is why I chose to use Lion Brand Yarn’s Comfy Cotton (discontinued) for this crochet beach blanket.

I really loved how Comfy Cotton is variegated. The variegation made the monotonous circle pattern and endless rounds feel like it was full of life and added a cute element of design. I actually had this yarn sitting for over a year waiting for the perfect project. When using variegated yarn, you want to make sure you use a simple stitch. let the yarn be the star of the show. If not, the piece ends up looking way too busy.
