Due to the various stitches and colorwork, this pattern is rated intermediate, however beginner friendly skill level.

About this chunky crochet blanket wrap
The Dieppe Blanket Wrap was inspired by the changing seasons. The design plays with different basic crochet stitches for beautiful texture. When I designed the wrap, I knew I only wanted to use one color, so playing around with stitches to create a beautiful textured pattern was a really fun way of bringing life to the solid color.
The idea of a blanket wrap meets in between a scarf and a small blanket, making it a great piece to keep you warm but not as bulky as a full blanket. I enjoy bringing these types of wraps on road trips, camping, and basically anywhere during wintertime because of it’s versatility in use.
Using bulky yarn, this oversized scarf whips ups quickly, making it the perfect handmade gift for loved ones this holiday season.

The wrap takes on a rectangular shape and is worked in horizontal rows. You can find picture tutorials for the stitches used in the paid version of the wrap, but if you are well versed in pattern reading you should be totally fine.

Chunky yarn for winter used for a Chunky Blanket
I want to thank Lion Brand Yarn for providing me with the yarn for this beautiful top! Nevertheless, everything I say about this yarn is my own opinion.
This chunky crochet blanket wrap is made using Hue + Me which is a bulky weight yarn design by Alexi Tavel from Two of Wands in collaboration with Lion Brand Yarn. Alexi has always been an inspiration in my maker journey so I was so excited when Hue+Me launched in 2021.
Hue+Me comes in a TON of color options. I like the earthy, neutral tones of the line – making them easy to pair with one another. It also comes in a healthy yardage of 137 yds per ball at a very affordable price! This means, quick projects, low costs, array of color choices, and quality yarn all in one.
The Dieppe Blanket Wrap is my third project using Hue+Me. Check out my two other designs here: Pine Needle Leg Warmers and the Tirintas Poncho.
Pro Tip: Whenever working with bulky yarn, projects do tend to work up quite stiff. This is also true to say with Hue+Me BUT what I discovered is that after machine washing and drying, this yarn turns insanely soft and takes on a beautiful drape. This is also achievable by blocking.
Keep in mind that if washing, this yarn does tend to lint A LOT. I take a lint roller and lint shaver over it and it is good as new.
Although Hue+Me would be the best yarn to make this chunky scarf, you can use any thick yarn you have available. A great substitute for this yarn would be Lion Brand’s Thick n Quick lines like Lion Brand Wool-Ease Thick n Quick or Lion Brand Respun Thick n Quick . If you have a different weight of yarn, for example worsted weight, you can combine two or three strands of yarn to use with your 6.5 mm hook to keep the same hook size.
If you want a lighter scarf, you can opt to just use any yarn you prefer and add on to stitches (multiples of 10) and repeat row flow in the pattern.
